It is essential to know the origins of urban space and the characteristics of urban culture in order to understand and consider various issues in one's living environment.This course aims to provide students with the basic skills to independently consider various issues in their own living environment by understanding urban culture ("spaces of leisure") from the framework of social and cultural geography.
In this course, we will theoretically and empirically examine leisure activities as part of urban culture, taking up examples from various regions in modern and contemporary times. Based on the knowledge accumulated in social and cultural geography and related fields, we will consider the positive and negative aspects of urban culture, which are viewed differently depending on various social positions, through specific themes related to leisure activities.

現代の日常生活が営まれる舞台となる都市空間の成り立ちと都市の文化の特徴について知っておくことは、自らの生活環境の諸問題を把握し考察していく際に不可欠である。この授業では、社会・文化地理学の枠組みから都市の文化（「レジャーの空間」）を理解することによって、自らの生活環境の諸問題を主体的に考察するための基礎的な力を身につけることを目指す。

近現代のさまざまな地域の事例を取り上げなら、都市の文化としての余暇活動について理論的かつ経験的に考察する。社会・文化地理学ならびにその近接分野で蓄積されてきた知見をもとに、余暇活動に関わる具体的なテーマを通じて、さまざまな社会的立場によって見方が変化する、都市文化の正と負の側面について考えていく。

| ・授業はパワーポイントやGoogle Classroomなどを使用した講義形式で行う。映像資料や現物資料なども適宜活用する。 ・毎回提出してもらうレポートのなかで優秀なものについては講義中に匿名で紹介していく。 ・講義計画に従って進める予定だが、進行の具合、時事問題への言及などに応じて、順序や同一テーマの回数を変えることがある。 |
講義で扱った内容について、次回の講義までに小レポートを書くことを通じて理解を深めておくこと。
