Reading the assigned articles and participating in the class discussions, you will learn sociological theories as well as sociological way of thinking. We focus particularly on environmental sociology, on the gap between politics, market economy and on-site field.
Is Nature something to be “protected”? Environmental problems sometimes seem difficult to understand, far from our daily lives. In this course, we will discuss our own physicality, our daily lives, food and agriculture, defining in the end nature and environment in our own terms. The students will take turn and act as discussion moderators--summarizing the article we read, encouraging others to raise questions, thus acquiring in the end critical thinking of the present environmental problems.

専門演習は社会学に関連した文献を読み、議論することをとおして理解を深めていく科目である。この演習では、環境社会学をテーマに政策や市場経済、現場との間で生じるズレを考え議論することで身近な問いを見つけ、社会学的に考える力を身につける。

「自然は守るべきもの」なのだろうか。一方で環境問題は、自分から遠く難しい問題なのだろうか。
自然や環境について、私たちの身体、暮らし、たとえば食・農をとおして再考をはかると共に、環境政策や経済システム、自然や環境が遠く感じられる視点とのズレについて議論していく。
受講生はレジュメの作成や司会進行を担当し、他の受講生の質疑応答を促し、自ら考え探究する力を身につけてもらいたい。
