Students will learn the fundamentals of sociological thinking and writing in media studies, as well as participate in seminar-style discussions.
In the first half of the course, students will read literature on traditional mass media. In the second half of the course, students will read literature, mostly in English, on social media, including LINE, X(Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube. Students will learn the fundamental skills needed for successful study and research, such as how to create resumes, give presentations, and facilitate conversations. The format of the exercises will be centered on group work.

メディア社会学の理論や考え方を学術文献から学び、自分の議論を立てられるようになる。
Students will learn the fundamentals of sociological thinking and writing in media studies, as well as participate in seminar-style discussions.
前半では共通テキストを用いてラジオやテレビの役割を確認しながら、より近年のインターネットとその利用に話題を移す。後半では独自テキストを用いてLINE、X(Twitter)、Instagram、YouTubeといった比較的新しい（ソーシャル）メディアに関係する文献を読む。文献を読む能力を高めるとともに、レジュメの書き方、発表の仕方、討論の方法等、3年次以降の研究のために必要な基礎的能力をゼミ形式の演習を通じて身につける。演習の形式はグループワークを中心とする。英語文献を積極的に採用する。
