【Course Objectives】

In Japan, which is facing a declining birth rate, a declining population, an aging society, and other rapid changes in social structure, various issues are emerging in all communities, not only specific areas such as cities and agricultural villages. In this course, students will come to know the social structures and social relationships behind problems in local communities. They will acquire perspectives for approaching problems from multiple angles, and will focus on people and organizations acting to solve problems in local communities, in order to understand those initiatives.

【Course Contents】

The format will primarily be lectures. In order to clarify the conditions and circumstances of local communities, the course will also use images, materials, etc. and will host special lectures by guest speakers active in local communities. Group work will be performed in class as necessary.
