To understand theories and concepts of international migration studies in sociology, and to be able to accurately identify and explain the situation in which today’s immigrants find themselves.
As the cases of Zion Suzuki, a goalkeeper of Japan's national football team that played in the Asian Cup, and Carolina Shiino, the Ukraine-born winner of the Miss Japan 2024, show, people with immigrant backgrounds are becoming more and more familiar in the Japanese society. But we don’t really know who immigrants are, why they come to this country, and how they affect the receiving societies.
This class is an introductory course for transnational sociology (migration studies). In this course, students will learn the basic concepts and theories of migration studies and understand what kind of questions have been raised in international sociology. Based on this, we will take a critical perspective on the current situation of ethnic minorities and immigration policies in Japan.

サッカーのアジアカップ日本代表のGK鈴木彩艶選手や、ウクライナ生まれでミス日本に選ばれた椎野カロリーナさんの事例が示すように、日本社会において、移民的背景をもつ人はますます身近な存在となっている。しかし、「移民とは誰か」「なぜ彼・彼女らは国際移住するのか」「移民は受け入れ社会にどのような影響を及ぼすのか」について、私たちはあまり知らないのではないだろうか。
本授業は国際社会学（移民研究）入門の講義であり、移民研究の基礎理論と概念を学び、国際社会学がどのような事象に対して、いかなる問いを提起してきたかについて考察する。それを踏まえて、日本におけるエスニック・マイノリティの現状や移民政策について、批判的な視点で検討する。

| 5 | シカゴ学派都市社会学 ：初期シカゴ学派都市社会学のエスニック研究（人間生態学や同心円理論など）について学ぶ。 |
| 6 | 同化理論 ：古典的同化論の限界について考えながら、分節化された同化論と新同化論の展開と特徴について学ぶ。 |
| 7 | 移民と社会階層 ：階層的観点から現代の移民の特徴を学びながら、人種・エスニシティ・階層によるセグリゲーション（居住分化）について考察する。 |
| 8 | ジェンダーと移民 ：国際分業体制の変化や特徴に着目し、新しいタイプの不平等構造が形成されるメカニズムを理解する。 |
| 9 | 在日コリアンの歴史と現状 ：「オールドカマー」と呼ばれる在日コリアンの定住過程や生き方を理解する。 |
| 10 | ニューカマー外国人と日本社会 ：1990年入管法改正の背景とその影響に着目しながら、ニューカマー外国人の増加と受け入れ文脈の違いについて学ぶ。 |
| 11 | 日本の外国人（移民）政策 ：「多文化共生」という言葉が提唱されるようになった社会的背景と展開過程について学びながら、2018年改正入管法の特徴を把握し、日本の移民政策の課題について考察する。 |
| 12 | 移民受け入れの影響 ：移民受け入れの社会的・経済的影響について多角的に検討しながら、排外主義の問題について取り上げる |

・事前に授業資料や参考文献に目を通し、気になった点をまとめておく。
・授業内容について理解を深めてもらえるように、毎回の授業テーマに関連する参考文献を紹介する。授業後は学習内容を整理し、紹介文献を読んで復習する。
