Through the work of local governments, students learn about the ideal state and reality of local communities, and deepen their understanding of the issues faced by local communities around them.
This year, we will focus on the policy-making process of local governments. Using a unique policy implemented in Kunitachi City, Tokyo as an example, a current civil servant will speak as a guest speaker about how that policy was formulated and what process it has taken to reach its current status. Through the stories of public servants who work on the front lines of local communities, students will learn about various issues surrounding local communities and deepen their understanding of themselves as members of local communities.

地域社会を構成する住民として、地方自治体の業務を通じて地域社会のあるべき姿と現実について学び、自らの周りにある地域社会の課題について理解を深める。
Through the work of local governments, students learn about the ideal state and reality of local communities, and deepen their understanding of the issues faced by local communities around them.
2022年度までは「地方自治体から学ぶ地域社会」という科目名でした。2023年度から新たに「現代社会研究E」として、毎年度違ったテーマを軸に地域社会を取り巻く状況を学びます。2024年度は特に地方自治体の政策形成過程に焦点を当てます。東京都国立市で行われている特徴的・先進的な政策を事例に、その政策がどうして立案され、どのようなプロセスで今に至っているのかを現役公務員がゲストスピーカーとして語ります。地域社会の最前線で働く公務員の話から地域社会をめぐるさまざまな課題を認識するとともに、自らが地域社会の一員であるという理解を深めてもらいたいと考えています。なお、下記内容を予定していますが順序・内容を変更することもあります。
