● Aim of the course
The aim of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of the fundamental principle of “Sociology of Disaster (Recovery)”.
● Course Objectives
At the end of the course, participants are expected to explain the essential concepts of “Sociology of Disaster”, describe and explain that disaster mitigation is a process of creating an concept of “new normal”.

● Aim of the course
The aim of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of the fundamental principle of “Sociology of Disaster (Recovery)”.
● Course Objectives
At the end of the course, participants are expected to explain the essential concepts of “Sociology of Disaster”, describe and explain that disaster mitigation is a process of creating an concept of “new normal”.
「災害」、という現象・出来事を皆さんはどこまでご存知でしょうか。近年、地球温暖化の影響によって、台風・豪雨・旱魃（かんばつ）といった災害が世界各地で激甚化しているという話を聞いたことがある、という方は多いかもしれません。また、2024年1月1日に発生した能登半島地震のことを思い起こす方も多いでしょう。しかし、こうしたことを取り上げる報道や、災害への注意を呼びかけあうSNSの動きなどは、その被害の大きさ、被害が発生するメカニズム、被害を受けた人々の苦しむ姿といった、表面的な事実に着目することが多いのが現状です。実際には、災害は被害の原因となった自然現象と、被害を拡大・縮小させた社会的要因の関係によって、まったく異なる出来事として発生するため、「1つ1つの事例が異なる特徴（顔）をもつ」ということが言われます。そのため、災害の正確な理解にあたっては、その事例が発生した背景要因、具体的には歴史的経緯や社会状況、災害前後における人々の暮らしの姿といったものまで、広く、そして深く目を向けなければ、なかなか、災害という複雑な出来事を理解することはできません。本講義では、「災害」という現象がどのように展開していくかを時系列的に説明するなかで、災害を広く、そして深く見るとはどういうことか、それによって何が見えてくるのかを学生の皆さんと共有していきたいと思っています。なお、講義の進捗状況などにより、単元の内容は変更されることがあります。

とくにありませんが、本講義はいわゆる防災に役立つ知識を教えるものではなく、社会学の立場から災害をどのように捉えることが可能か、防災・減災をどのように考えていけばよいかを論じていくものです。その点だけ、誤解のないようにお願いします。
講義資料は電子配布を行いますので、講義中に参照したい場合はPC・タブレット端末が必要となります。なおスマートフォンでの閲覧のみ、講義資料を閲覧するには画面が小さすぎるという理由から避けることを推奨します。
【講義形式】
講義は担当講師が用意するパワーポイント資料を利用して行います。
【資料等の配布方法】
紙資源の節約のため、資料およびリアクションペーパーはすべて、授業支援システム（Canvas LMS）を通して実施します。
【リアクションペーパー】
教員と受講生の対話用の窓口として、授業支援システムを通じて任意でのリアクション・ペーパーを設定します。リアクション・ペーパーは、講義に関して書きたいこと（感想や意見、疑問、質問、講義の改善点、これはちょっと言っておきたいというようなことなど、なんでも）を書いてください。上限は特にありませんので、いくら書いていただいても構いません。優れたものについては追加の加点対象とすることもありますが、通常の期末試験のみでS評価をとることは可能ですので、無理に行う必要はありません。
