【Course Objectives】

(1) Students will acquire a basic knowledge of modern American history.
(2) Students will learn social issues in America and understand their historical backgrounds.

【Course Contents】

What is the background to the problems facing the contemporary world? How do people act to improve and solve them? In this "modern American history" lecture, we will close in on people's activities in the past and contemplate their historical meaning from the perspective of American history. This lecture focuses on racism, gender discrimination, and labor problems. These key aspects will help you understand what is happening in the U.S. today, and how people search for the realization of a better society. As the U.S. Presidential Election will be held this year, we will also learn about the American electoral system and its problems. The lecturer looks forward to seeing students who are interested in American history, contemporary history, and domestic and international issues.
