【Course Objectives】

The goal of this course is to help students master the Japanese proficiency required to understand what others are saying and to clearly communicate their own views in university life. Students will learn various strategies to use to understand what others are trying to say. They will also learn what they need to understand in order to clearly express their views without creating misunderstandings, and how to put that knowledge into practice.

【Course Contents】

This course improves students' Japanese communication skills required in university life, such as how to write e-mails, how to compose handouts and reaction papers, and how to make clear presentations. Students will also learn practical skills necessary for writing logical reports. The class will cover "reading, writing, speaking, and listening," with a particular focus on "writing" and "reading." Although lectures will be given to explain the basic contents, the class will mainly proceed in the form of assignments in which participants will actively work, so active participation is required.
