【Course Objectives】

As an activity carried out in cooperation with the local community, students will be participating in Japanese language learning support activities for learners in the Toshima ward or in activities providing learning support in junior high schools in the community. Through this process, along with improving their communication skills, students who will develop a better understanding of cross-cultural societies and become able to consider more closely the Intercultural Communication we study within the College.

【Course Contents】

Student selection will take place in the semester prior to registration and after undertaking preparatory training, students will provide support through activities at junior high schools or within the University. Also, during the activity period there will be interim training and once the activities have ended follow-up training will be carried out. Support activities are divided into the following two types:
1. Language support provided to foreign students in junior high school classes. (capacity of 10)
In order to register, candidates must have sufficient Japanese and Chinese or English communication ability, as specified below. Native Japanese speakers: Chugokugo Kentei Chinese Proficiency Test Level 2 or HSK Level 5 Non-native Japanese speakers: Rikkyo Japanese Placement Test Level J7

2. Individual tutoring provided mainly at junior high schools after school. (capacity of 15) Students are required to attend lectures on Japanese language learning support in advance of enrolling in the program.
3. Japanese language learning support provided mainly at Rikkyo University. (capacity of 15)
As part of the registration process candidates will attend a preparatory training lecture on Japanese language learning support.
