【Course Objectives】

The students will be able to understand the relationships between abstract ideas of development and cooperation policy practice. The course will focus on concepts such as human security with real-world examples such as the activities of JICA.
Discussion, debate, reading, and thinking are the critical elements of this course. From a Japanese & global perspective, the students must have the following skills.
> Understanding international development & cooperation.
> Analyze and evaluate actors
> Apply theoretical frameworks to real-world case studies.
> Demonstrate interdisciplinary thinking
> Collaborate in group projects and discussions
> Communicate ideas and arguments clearly and persuasively
> Formulate informed opinions
> Cultivate ethical awareness and cultural sensitivity

【Course Contents】

The 14-week course on international cooperation covers diverse topics such as theories, human security, development, JICA's role, and multilateralism. It explores themes like sustainable development goals, human rights, peace, international law, global economic governance, trade, globalization, migration, and inequality. The curriculum adapts to post-COVID-19 global health cooperation, environmental issues, climate change, and South-South & Triangular Cooperation. The concluding weeks address emerging challenges in international cooperation and human security, with the final two weeks dedicated to individual presentations and a concluding focus on final report writing, offering students a comprehensive understanding of contemporary global issues and cooperation dynamics.
