356 million children in the world, one out of 6 children, are living in extreme poverty. Their poverty level is very severe, lacking in food, clothes, shelter, medical care, and access to education. The children are facing complex violation of their rights, suffering from economic and sexual exploitation, being forced to be child soldier, forced child marriage and so on. Reduction of child poverty is urgent issue of humanity.
One out of seven children are in poverty in Japan, living below the poverty line which is half of the median annual income of the Japanese population.
Those children also face the complex and serious issues of poverty, being unable to join any sport or culture club after school, receive higher education, or enjoy meal with their family, and have to spend many hours caring the sick or old member of their families. The issues facing the children with foreign roots such as limited access to support for their education including both the Japanese and their mother tongue education has come to the surface as migrant people in Japan are rapidly increasing.
