【Course Objectives】

The purpose of this course is to learn about the characteristics and that backgrounds of pre-modern Chinese and the surrounding region's law, to understand that laws vary by age and region, and to consider how the law should be in the present and future.

【Course Contents】

In China, until the modern laws were established with reference to the European and Japanese modern laws in the late Qing Dynasty, the original legal system (Lü-ling law system) centered on "lü" and "ling" developed from ancient times, it had a significant impact on the laws of Vietnam, Korea, and Japan located around China. In this course, I will give a lecture on the laws of pre-modern China and Vietnam, Korea, Japan. Specifically, I will lecture about establishment and compilation of laws, criminal law, civil law, and judicial proceeding.
