【Course Objectives】

The objective of this course is to understand the academic approaches of comparative politics with focuses on the diverse paths of political development in Europe, as well as the contemporary challenges of the European integration beyond the nation state.

【Course Contents】

Europe has experienced dynamic political development, including the construction and crisis of nation-states, democracies, and welfare states, and is currently facing challenges such as EU integration, coexistence with immigrants and refugees, populism, climate change, and social investment state. This lecture will introduce the theory of comparative politics for analyzing the world politics and explain the changes in European politics from history to the present day through a variety of themes and examples from countries and regions.
