【Course Objectives】

To develop the ability to analyze current legal rules and regard problems by learning about legal issues that foreigners may face in Japanese society and deepening their understanding of related legal rules.

【Course Contents】

The purpose of this course is to learn about the legal problems that foreigners may face while living in Japanese society, learn the legal rules related to them, and also observe the activities of organizations involved in supporting foreigners in Toshima Ward and other areas to solve problems. Some of the legal issues that foreigners face are unique to foreigners (such as status of residence), while others are common to both foreigners and Japanese (labor, residence, family relationships, social security, etc.). By learning not only about the former but also about the latter, students will have the opportunity to consider the current situation and problems of Japanese law using foreigners as a "mirror."

Students are required to participate in the activities of organizations involved in supporting foreigners, and then write articles about each organization's activities, philosophy, and issues they are facing.
The 1st to 8th classes will be held during the 2nd period on Thursdays at the Ikebukuro campus during the spring semester class period from April to July, and the 9th to 11th fieldwork will be held from July to September with each group. Visit and do it. The 12th to 14th sessions are scheduled to be held at the Ikebukuro campus in September (before the start of the fall semester).
