【Course Objectives】

1 Students will understand the content of Nietzsche's text exactly.
2 Students will understand the significance in political philosophy of Nietzsche's confrontation with modern society.
3 Students will develop the ability to the critical thinking on today's political deadlock with reference to the above significance.

【Course Contents】

Modern society is deepening its deadlock in various areas. In this seminar, we will discuss today's political deadlock by reading Nietzsche's writing from the last years of his life, in which he confronted modern society to the fullest.
The book we will be discussing in this seminar, “Ecce Homo,” is generally regarded as Nietzsche's autobiography, but it is a comprehensive summary of his "lived philosophy" and a good entry point into his political philosophy. In this semester, we will read the first half of the book.
