Learning about women's participation and representation in politics, and developing the ability to consider democratic politics from a gender perspective.
In this course, we will engage in literature reading and individual presentation on women's political participation and representation, and discuss about gender and democracy. The initial half of the class focuses on reading and discussing academic texts. For each class, a designated student will present a report on their assigned section of the reading. Students who are not presenters are expected to prepare comments and questions. It should be noted that the literature for reading includes both Japanese and English materials. In the latter half of the course, students will have group presentations on themes that align with the course's focus. Active engagement through reporting and commentary is a fundamental expectation within the classroom. Also, students should understand that a considerable amount of literature reading and preparation time for presentations and individual reports is required outside of class.

この授業では、女性の政治参加と政治代表に関する文献講読および個人報告を行い、ジェンダーと民主主義について参加者および教員で議論・検討します。授業前半では、文献を講読し、文献内容に基づいて議論を行います。毎回担当者は担当箇所についての報告、担当者でない参加者はコメントや質疑の準備が求められます。なお、講読する文献には英語文献も含まれます。授業後半では、授業内容に沿ったテーマでグループ報告を行います。授業全体を通して、報告やコメントなど積極的な授業参加が求められることは当然ですが、授業外においても相当量の文献講読や報告および個人レポートのための準備時間が求められることを理解した上で参加してください。

予習：文献講読については、報告者は内容や論点などをまとめたレジュメを準備する。報告者以外の参加者は、文献を読んだ上でコメントや質問などを事前に準備する。また、各グループ内で分担してグループ報告の準備をする。
復習：授業内での報告、コメント、質疑をふまえて、毎回の授業内容を検討し直し、グループ報告や個人レポートに反映させるよう努める。
