【Course Objectives】

In the field of international politics, various pieces of information are exchanged. In recent years, the content of fake news has become more sophisticated, and there has been an increase in cases where it actually influences people's political trends. Why is it important to gather and report on-site? By watching VTRs of news experiences that the lecturer has actually experienced, including the merits and demerits of television reporting, participants can discuss and enhance their individual news literacy. Additionally, by introducing behind-the-scenes stories that the news did not cover, we want to increase interest in the diverse international community.

【Course Contents】

After watching news programs, typically lasting between 20 to 30 minutes, the instructor provides advice on understanding the news, including what the VTR attempted to convey or what it failed to convey. In the latter part of the class, all attendees exchange opinions on the news covered, based on their impressions of the VTR. Criticism, questions, and dissent are all welcome. Through active exchange of opinions, the aim is to cultivate a habit of viewing global affairs from multiple perspectives. Furthermore, regarding extracurricular learning, visits to television stations and newspaper companies are arranged, where discussions with reporters and directors shed light on the workings of journalism in the field.
