【Course Objectives】

The objectives of this seminar are to study international business law while improving the students’ abilities to negotiate and think in a legal manner so as to be able to make logical and persuasive statements predicated on complex factual relationships.

【Course Contents】

There are few companies today which simply do business only in Japan. Many companies conduct business activities in global markets on a daily basis. How does the law impact such companies? Moreover, what techniques are used when trouble occurs or to prevent them from occurring?

During the spring semester, students will learn the basic theories of international business law, international business dispute resolution, and negotiation while combining practice through mock negotiations and arbitrations with students from other universities.

Furthermore, during the fall semester, students will participate in the Japanese and English sections of the Intercollegiate Negotiation Competition (for more details, see http://www.negocom.jp/) held in mid November together with students from other Japanese and foreign universities.

In this way, students will acquire a fundamental knowledge of international business law while improving their abilities to negotiate and think in a legal manner.
