【Course Objectives】

Students will understand Islamic thought in comparison with West Asian ideas such as Eastern Christianity and Zoroastrianism.

【Course Contents】

We will place emphasis on the historical development leading to the formation and development of Islam. We will begin with the process of Islam being established in the cultural sphere of Eastern Christianity and Zoroastrianism in the late ancient period, and follow up to the development of a unique Islamic civilization by accepting philosophy and science under the influence of Hellenism.
