We will aim to be sensitive to the word "religion" through a multi-dimensional examination of the concept and term of "religion", and genealogical consideration.
This class is not a commentary on individual religions, but a reflection on the concept and the term of "religion". Specifically, introducing the flow of religious studies since the late 19th century, we would like to consider the position of "knowing about religion," rather than "believing" or "moving away from" it.

「宗教」という語の多角的な検討や系譜学的な考察により、「宗教」という概念=用語に敏感になることを目指す。
We will aim to be sensitive to the word "religion" through a multi-dimensional examination of the concept and term of "religion", and genealogical consideration.
本授業は、個別の宗教についての解説ではなく、「宗教」概念についての考察である。具体的には、19世紀後半以降の宗教研究の流れを紹介しながら、「信じる」でも「遠ざける」でもなく、「《宗教》について知る」という立場について考察したい。
