【Course Objectives】

This course offers students opportunities to explore the Japanese language and communication, comparing them with other foreign languages from various perspectives. The objective is to cultivate students' communication skills in their mother tongue, Japanese, and enhance their understanding of multilingual and multicultural communication.

【Course Contents】

This course is collaboratively taught by Japanese scholars specializing in foreign language teaching such as Japanese, English, and German. We focus on how Japanese culture and thought affect the way Japanese speakers communicate, exploring language forms, discourse structures, and more, comparing these with other languages. Students enhance their cross-cultural communication skills by analyzing language data and presenting their findings in groups and classes.

In every class, group discussions are held and active participation is expected. In mini-projects and group projects, students will have the opportunity to actively participate in conducting various linguistic analyses, present their work and exchange opinions with other students. Therefore, students are required to participate in the classes proactively rather than passively.
