【Course Objectives】

Mainly from the perspective of global studies, students will learn what is the nature and significance of communication to understand without apprehension different cultures, societies, religions, languages, and positions. Students will also learn intercultural cultural communication. The lecturer will take up Islam in Japan, which is a different culture for many Japanese, as an example.
The ultimate goal of this course is to encourage students to think independently about the nature and significance of intercultural communication.

【Course Contents】

The lecturer will focus mainly on Islam in Japan as a specific example.
By observing the process of how Japanese people have known, understood, and accepted Islam, and by learning about the current situation and issues related to Islam in Japan, students will learn the nature and significance of intercultural communication.
In the final report, students will learn intercultural communication by taking up their own themes in culture, society, religion, language, and other topics, not limited to Islam.
In the first and second class session of this course, students will introduce their culture to Slovak students and exchange opinions about what different cultures are as a practical example of cultural exchange. By actually experiencing it, students will have an opportunity to think about the nature and significance of intercultural communication by themselves.
