Students are aiming at understanding various topics and theories related to business and business management, Social Responsibility, and eventually able to analyze actual business cases with analytical frameworks students learn in the class.
We human being are facing serious problems such as environmental degradation, poverty and various forms of inequalities. To address those problems, we need more and more resources, and those resources are mainly created by business. Therefore, there is growing expectation for businesses to play more important roles to solve social problems.
Business can create resource when it is able to meet a need at profit, so it is very important for us to understand how business operates. In this course, we learn various topics related to corporate management so that we can better understand companies and their expected role in society.

企業は営利追求のために人為的に設立された組織である。企業は、この生来的な性質の下、日々、競争優位の獲得と効率性の向上などに努め、自身の持続可能性（サステナビリティ）を高めるべく、様々な営利活動を行っている、今日、我々が享受している豊かで便利な社会は、この企業の営利活動の成果の一つである。しかし一方で、企業活動の一部が、大気や水質の汚染、二酸化炭素排出量の増大、人権やジェンダーの問題、貧富の格差の増大などといった様々な課題を社会に生じさせたことも事実である。こうしたいわゆる「企業・社会間関係」に対する注目が集まる中、学問としての経営学でも、企業経営の実務においても、以前にもまして、CSR（企業の社会的責任）が重要視されるようになっている。企業に課せられた社会的責任とは何か、社会が企業に期待していることは何か、企業・社会間関係はどうあるべきか。こうした疑問に的確に答えることが、今我々には求められている。本授業は、この答えを導き出すための基礎的知識と思考プロセスを獲得することを目標とする。

本授業は、「企業と社会」に関し、①企業の原則と存在意義、②CSRの登場と発展、批判、③CSRの最新動向と今後の企業経営の課題、の3つのテーマを中心に取り扱う。それにより、企業と社会の関係の歴史的変化、議論の状況、そして現代の企業社会間関係の有り様を学び、最終的には、自分の考えをまとめる。
