Students will learn about how "diplomacy" actually relates to the "human rights" of people living their daily lives, such as human rights issues that have arisen in Japanese diplomacy, and human rights issues that Japanese diplomacy has been trying to solve and will think about how they can be involved in each issue as members of society.
The course will provide a broad overview of human rights issues that have arisen in Japanese diplomacy and human rights issues that Japanese diplomacy has been trying to solve. After understanding the issues and the situation and position of each party, we will examine why did the issues arise; what efforts have been made by governments, international organizations, and civil society, etc. to date; and what kind of solutions can be considered in the future.

日本外交の中で生じてきた人権問題や、日本外交が解決しようとしてきた人権問題など、「外交」が実際に生活する人々の「人権」にどのように関係してきたのかを学び、社会の一員として自分自身が各問題にいかに関わっていけるのか考える。

日本外交のために生じてきた人権問題、あるいは、日本外交が解決をしようとしてきた人権問題などを広く概観する。各問題やそれぞれの当事者の状況・立場を理解した上で、なぜその問題が生じたか、これまでに各国政府や国際機関、市民社会等が解決のためにどのような努力を払ってきたのか、今後どのような解決方法がとられうるのか等について検討する。
The course will provide a broad overview of human rights issues that have arisen in Japanese diplomacy and human rights issues that Japanese diplomacy has been trying to solve.
