Students will acquire basic knowledge about the music culture of France ｆrom the late 19th century to the early 20th century and become able to develop discussions on the subject according to their own interests and issue-awareness.
In this course, we will trace the history of French art music culture from the late 19th century to the middle of the 20th century, focusing on a period called "la Belle Époque," which may be familiar to Japanese people. Through the works and lives of major musicians, students will also deepen their understanding of various related art and cultural history topics including literature, fine arts, and dance from various angles while following the journey of "French Music" and "Music in France." In the classes, we would like to make use of abundant audiovisual materials and to invite professional musicians as guest speakers to provide opportunities for students to actually listen to and see the music.

19世紀後半～20世紀前半のフランスの芸術音楽文化について基礎的な知識を身につけ、自らの関心や問題意識に引きつけて議論を展開することができる。

本授業では、日本人にとっても比較的なじみ深い「ベル・エポック」と呼ばれる時代を中心に、19世紀後半から20世紀中葉にかけてのフランスの芸術音楽と文化の諸相を辿ります。主要な音楽家の作品を通して、「フランス音楽」や「フランスにおける音楽」の歩みを追いながら、文学・美術・舞踊などの関連する諸芸術や文化史上のトピックについても、様々な角度から理解を深めていく予定です。授業では豊富な視聴覚資料を活用するとともに、プロの音楽家をゲストスピーカーとしてお招きし、できるだけ皆さんの耳や目で実際に音楽に触れていただく機会を設けたいと思います。

・予習は特に必要ありませんが、授業内で紹介する参考書や配布資料記載の文献リストなどをガイドラインにしながら、各自で復習を行ってください。
・授業内で視聴した作品、時間の都合上紹介しきれなかった作品等の参考動画のプレイリストをCanvas LMS上で共有します。文献とあわせて復習と発展的学習の一助にすることをお勧めします。

・西洋音楽に関する事前の専門知識や技能は必要ありませんが、授業内で紹介する作品や音楽史的事項について、各自の既有知識（日常のさまざまな音楽・文化体験、世界史、文学史など）と結び付けながら積極的に理解を深めようとする姿勢が求められます。
・毎回授業後に小課題の提出があります。過大な負担にはならないよう配慮していますが、学習の積み重ね（＝継続的な出席）を単位取得の前提としていますので、就職活動等であらかじめ多数の欠席（目安：授業回数の1/3以上）が見込まれる方には履修をおすすめしません。
授業支援システム「Canvas LMS」で授業資料や課題、授業連絡などを配信しますので、安定的に情報を受信できる端末が必要です。学期末にレポート試験（ウェブ提出）がありますので、PC環境の準備が推奨されます。
すでにある程度音楽の知識や経験がある方はもちろん、クラシック音楽未経験の方にもできるだけわかりやすく解説していきます。学生のみなさんにとって「音楽」の捉え方の可能性が広がる授業となるよう願っています。
