Through the theatrical works of Shakespeare and Oscar Wilde, this course aims to understand the relationship between the self and its performance in the modern society. Successful students will be able to criticize modern society and its culture from the view point of performativity.
The teacher gives lectures using some visual materials and text excerpt from Terry Eagleton and other authors.

シェイクスピアとワイルドの演劇を通して近代社会における自己とパフォーマンスとの関係について理解を深め、パフォーマンスという観点から社会、歴史、文化を論じることができるようになる。
