We will give an overview of what this universe is made of, based on the results of modern science.
The aim is for students to know how the universe exists as a result of what kind of history and to understand the structure of familiar materials.
It does not matter whether students have already studied physics, chemistry or geology.
The curiosity to know what this universe is made of and what we are made of is the first motivation and the ultimate goal of science. Recent remarkable progress in science has enabled us to explain many phenomena from the structure of atoms that constitute matter to the process of evolution of the universe. However, recently obtained observational data suggest that the universe is filled with vast unidentified amounts of energy. It has become clear that humanity knows only a few percent of the universe.
We will outline what we know now and what we do not know, reflecting the progress of science.

この宇宙が何からできているか、現代科学の成果に基づいて概観します。
私たちが宇宙のどのような歴史の結果存在しているのか知ることと、身近な物質の構造が理解できることが目標です。
物理や化学や地学を既習かどうかは問いません。

この宇宙は何からできているか、私たちが何からできているか知りたいという好奇心は、科学の最初の動機であり、最終的な目標です。最近の科学のめざましい進展により、物質を構成する原子の構造から宇宙の進化の過程まで、多くの現象が説明できるところまできました。しかし最近得られた観測データは、宇宙に正体不明の膨大なエネルギーが満ちていることを示唆しています。人類は宇宙の数パーセントしか知らないことが明らかとなってしまいました。
私たちが現在何を知っていて何を知らないのか、科学の進展を振り返りながら概説します。
