【Course Objectives】

Humans are remarkably unique animals among vertebrates. In this class, students will learn how the body plans of vertebrates have changed throughout the earth's history. The goal of this class is for students to understand the evolution of vertebrates, including humans.

【Course Contents】

[Key words] Paleontology, Evolution, Earth history, Osteology
Have you ever wondered why we have eyes, why we have skeletons, and why we walk on two legs? Paleontology is a curriculum that may seem unrelated to our daily lives. However, the structure of the human body has formed through the long history of life evolution. In this class, students will learn when various structures or organs, such as eyes, vertebrae, and limbs, were formed on earth/life history and how they have been passed down to humans. Classes include dialogue-based or interactive workshops. Students will be required to ask questions and make comments actively.
