【Course Objectives】

The goals of this course are to be able to understand the development and regional and historical characteristics of Christianity that has been accepted in Japan while considering its history in the context of the world and Asian history.

【Course Contents】

This course will explore the expansion of Christianity in Japan, considering the global historical background leading to its propagation in Japan. Students will learn about Christianity’s acceptance and development during the early modern, modern, and contemporary periods. Furthermore, through an examination of the history of Christianity in Japan from its introduction to the present day, students will learn the regional and temporal characteristics of Christianity in Japan.
