【Course Objectives】

The goals of this course are to
(1) acquire basic knowledge of Islam.
(2) understand the universality and the diversity of Islam.
(3) cultivate the ability to analyze the problems in today's global society from a broader perspective through the case study of Islam.

【Course Contents】

This course first introduce the basic knowledge of Islam, such as the historical background of the establishment of Islam, its basic doctrine and the holy book, Qur'an. Next, we will examine various practices based on Islamic faith. Then, we will examin incidents that have occurred around the world. While keeping an eye on the daily news, we will analyze the state of Islam in today's global society.
