In order to know and understand art – although it is almost unexplainable in itself –, we learn aesthetics and art history from the ancient Greek to the modern Impressionism, and everyone be able to describe works of art based on their own aesthetic judgment.
What does art mean to us? In order to know and understand art – although it is almost unexplainable in itself –, there is aesthetics and art history: the ideas and history on the beauty. In this class, we will trace the history of Western art from ancient Greece to 19th century Impressionism and learn to perceive beauties expressed in works of art.

芸術という説明し難いものを知り、理解するために、古代ギリシアから近代の印象主義までの美術史と美学を学び、各々が自身の美的判断に基づいた作品記述ができるようになること。

私たちにとって芸術（藝術/美術/アート）とは何だろうか。芸術という説明し難いものを知るために、美術史と美学という美をめぐる思想と歴史があります。この授業では古代ギリシアから19世紀の印象主義まで、西洋芸術の歴史を辿りながら、造形作品に現れた美について学びます。
