Upon entering the 21st century, fragmentation and diversification of media have been occurring as a result of digitization. This phenomenon is not only resulting in new media being born by the day, but it is also encroaching upon existing analog media through the stimulation of change. This course aims to give students an understanding of the characteristics possessed by, or beginning to be possessed by these ever-changing various forms of media.
From existing forms of media to newer forms of media, we will discuss each of their characteristics and variations, presenting specific examples while also helping students understand them conceptually.

21世紀に入り、デジタル化されることによって、メディアの細分化、多様化が進んでいる。この現象は、新しいメディアを日々生み出しつつあるだけでなく、既存のアナログメディアにも浸食し変容を促している。この変化する諸メディアはどのような特性をもっている／もちつつあるか、を理解することを目標とする。

既存のメディアから新しいメディアまで、それぞれの特性とその変化について、具体的事例を示すと同時に、概念化を施しながら論じる。

複数のメディアを通じて世界を知る際、同じ事件でもメディアによって伝わり方が違うということを意識し、各メディアのどのような特性から、違いが生じているか考えながらメディアに接するよう、日頃から心がけることが望ましい。
