【Course Objectives】

This course is aimed at students who intend to study tourism. We will outline the roles and significance of tourism in modern society, as well as the various structures within society that support the tourism industry. Through discussing all sorts of examples, this course aims to teach students fundamental knowledge while giving them an analytical point of view. In addition, the course aims to help students discover intriguing tourism phenomena and research topics.

【Course Contents】

As an introduction into tourism studies, we will stand in the shoes of each of us who travel to go sightseeing in search of a fun time, looking at how tourism affects the society and the culture of the regions in which it takes place.
We will discuss how the behavior of tourists is reflected within social conditions and the public psychology.
As a part of this course, every lecture we will be dealing with topics related to the behavior and psychology of tourists, thus students who are interested in this area of research in particular are urged to attend.
Every lecture, students will fill out a reaction paper with reflections on any travelling experiences they had in the past as well as their personal opinions and preferences relating to tourism. These papers will be turned in, and students will learn about the aggregate results from the instructor.
