【Course Objectives】

In this course, students will learn about the roles and effects of tourism in modern society. In addition, we aim to foster the “traveler’s perspective” in students, enabling them to experience more fulfilling travels both during their time as students and throughout their lives.

【Course Contents】

Tourism is an enormous industry, but it is also a means through which tourists intermingle with regional communities. As traveler, where do we go, what experiences do we gain, and what do we learn? Furthermore, in areas that attract tourists, what is actually being toured? Additionally, what effects does tourism have upon a region, and how does it change the lives and culture of the people who live there? In this course, through examining several examples concerning tourists and tourist attractions, we will study various aspects of the modern phenomenon of tourism, which is characterized by the interactions between tourists and the regions they visit.
