【Course Objectives】

In this course, students will learn to understand the concepts of human rights and gender through their historical origins. Upon taking this course, students will be able to think about various issues facing modern society from the standpoint of human rights and gender.

【Course Contents】

Although "human rights" is considered to be a universal concept, it is well-known that "women’s rights" were excluded at the concept’s origin, which was largely brought about by white men. At the beginning of the course, students will grasp the historical process of “human rights,” learning how the concept of human rights has responded and evolved as a result of opposition throughout each era. Following this, we will look at various specific issues in modern society, investigating together how one should comprehend and think about them from the standpoint of human rights and gender.
