Just what path has Rikkyo taken since its founding in 1874 to arrive at the present? In this course, students will learn the place that Rikkyo’s history and development has within contemporary Japanese history. While learning the peculiarities of Rikkyo’s history, we wish to ponder the question: “what is Rikkyo University?”
In this course, we will cover from Rikkyo’s founding in 1874 until the beginning of “integrated education given at collaborated continuous schools” in 2000. We will investigate the place that Rikkyo University’s history has within contemporary Japanese history. While shedding light on Rikkyo University’s historical development, we will introduce trends within each Rikkyo school (elementary, middle, and high school) alongside relevant examples from other universities. In addition, we plan to invite a guest speaker. Note that there may be small changes to the syllabus depending on the progress made.

1874年に創立した立教は、どのような歩みを経て、現在に至っているのだろうか。この授業では、日本近現代史のなかの立教大学の歴史・沿革とその特色を学びながら、「立教大学とは何であるのか」をともに考えていきたい。

この授業では、1874年の創立から2000年の「一貫連携教育」の開始までを対象とし、立教大学の歴史を日本近現代史のなかに位置づけながら検討していく。立教大学の歴史的展開を明らかにしていくなかで、立教各校（小・中・高）の動向や他大学の事例についても適宜紹介していく。そのほかゲストスピーカーの招聘を予定している。なお、進捗状況により、授業計画が若干変更することがある。
