【Course Objectives】

There are two main goals of this class: content goals and language goals.

(Content goals)
1) Students will become able to follow lectures, discussions, and presentations about gender issues.
2) Students will become able to understand and respond to detailed descriptions of topics related to gender issues.
3) Students will become able to synthesize information related to gender issues and present the findings in a clear and concise manner.

(Language goals)
4) Students will become able to appropriately use a range of technical vocabulary, expressions, and concepts common to gender issues.
5) Students will become able to respond and ask follow-up questions probing for more detail during discussions about gender issues.
6) Students will become able to express evaluative comments and opinions about gender issues.

【Course Contents】

This course is an opportunity for students to increase their interest in gender issues while improving their English at the same time. Through a combination of lectures, readings, discussions, writings, and presentations, students will explore various topics regarding gender. Students will complete weekly homework assignments and use their critical thinking skills to discuss questions about the content and themes. Students will also complete mid-term and final assignments about topics from class discussions.
