【Course Objectives】

This course aims to enable students to have a good command of Japanese sign language with sound grammatical knowledge and enjoy communicating freely with their classmates.

【Course Contents】

This is an intermediate Japanese sign language class mainly targeting students who have completed the elementary class. This class aims to enhance communication skills using sign language as well as providing insight into deaf people from multiple perspectives. By using columns as reading texts , students will learn the history of deaf people as well as their engagement in society, such as education, law, and welfare. Students are expected to read assigned books outside class hours to enrich their understanding of the deaf community. To demonstrate their achievement of the class learning outcomes, students will have opportunities to practice their communication skills outside of the classroom.
