【Course Objectives】

With the goal of developing "Human Resources" who will play key roles as managers in the travel and tourism industry in the future, this course aims to provide participants with an understanding of the business strategies, current status and issues, responses to environmental changes, and future prospects of the travel/tourism industry. The participants will learn firsthand about the "excitement”and“passion"of business through direct messages from executives/core personnel who are involved in real businesses. At the same time, the course will also present the view of the real world of work and society, so that participants will be able to acquire the essential knowledge and thinking required for job hunting and as a member of society in the future.

【Course Contents】

The tourism industry is touted as "the key industry of the 21st century," however, it has been devastated by the new coronavirus. Does the tourism industry have a future?" "Will I be able to find a job in the tourism industry in the future?" I am sure that many students are concerned about the future of the tourism industry.
In the first half of the course, to answer the above questions, the course will focus on the travel industry in its recovery phase from the impact of COVID-19, and lecture on the current situation, challenges, and future prospects of the travel industry based on actual examples and realities. The course will be directly explained by executives/core personnel of the JTB Group, Japan's largest travel agency, and will examine issues related to each business, responses to social environmental changes, new trends and business opportunities in the post-coronavirus era, and future prospects based on case studies of the JTB Group. The last half of the course, entitled "Future Tourism and New Business Opportunities," will focus not only on the traditional players in the tourism business, but also on the new business opportunities that will be created by combining tourism with various peripheral industries and local resources, such as adventure, sports, guided tours in the famous tunnels, food, and entertainment. By doing this, participants will learn about the broad scope of tourism and how to solve regional issues through combination.
