【Course Objectives】

This course is meticulously designed to offer a comprehensive insight into the evolving landscape and the multifaceted challenges of Japan's inbound tourism sector, currently witnessing growth that surpasses pre-pandemic levels.
By thinking about how to solve these challenges and how to tackle them through practical work, participants will acquire "practical views and ideas that can respond to changes in the environment and essential skills as a member of society", which will be useful in their respective workplaces after graduation.

【Course Contents】

Inbound tourism to Japan has completely surpassed its pre-COVID levels, becoming the most important theme for our country's tourism sector to address. In this course, we will delve into 'Inbound Travel Product Planning', actively participating in product planning, development, and sales plan. Our goal is to reach a proficiency where travel products are not only conceptualized but also market-ready. A pivotal aspect of this course will be the formulation and refinement of travel products with an emphasis on 'safety and security', effective 'overtourism management', and 'sustainability'. These considerations are particularly crucial in the evolving landscape of the post-COVID era.
Under the guidance of the planning manager and staff of JTB Global Marketing & Travel (JTB GMT), participants will work on product planning, development, and sales plan creation for a new course of SUNRISE TOURS, an optional tour, for inbound travelers and foreigners living in Japan. If the new courses planned and developed here are judged to have reached a certain level, they will be sold as actual products through overseas travel agencies and JTB GMT's sales website. In addition, participants will learn practical and essential skills as businesspersons, such as teamwork and presentation skills.
On Sunday May 26, fieldwork will be conducted in cooperation with the company (one-day Sunrise Tour course: Fuji-Hakone Tour).
In addition, in July, we will conduct a fieldwork experience for nighttime economy content aimed at inbound tourists visiting Japan, which will be a day trip in the Tokyo.
Attendance at the fieldwork is strongly recommended.
Students are required to take the fall semester course "Travel Industry Seminar 2 (B)" consecutively.
