【Course Objectives】

The purpose of this course is to acquire the folkloristic perspectives of analyzing and criticizing contemporary tourism as socio-cultural phenomenon.

【Course Contents】

Since its disciplinary beginning Folklore studies has played an important role of producing cultural properties (folktale, festival, costume, foods etc.) which constitute the touristic resources today. In this course we will analyze and consider the cultural phenomenon in contemporary and historical touristic context, citing various issues from Japan and Europe.
