【Course Objectives】

The objective of the class is to acquire a basic knowledge of the relationship between art and tourism and, based on this, to be able to critically examine the various changes in the contemporary art world.

【Course Contents】

This class will take the opening of the Louvre in 1793 as its starting point, and will provide an overview of the relationship between art and tourism over the past 200 years. The details are given in the class plan below, but the major topics include:

1. History of the Museum
2. History of Public Art
3. Art as a Tourism Resource
4. Art Festivals and Tourism
5. Museum and Accessibility
