【Course Objectives】

Learning how to draft plans for psychological experiments, conduct them, collect data, conduct basic statistical analysis and write reports from practical experience.

【Course Contents】

This class comes in pair with "Practice in Psychological Research Methods" class. Students who took "Practice in Psychological Experimental Methods" in spring semester take "Practice in Psychological Research Methods" in the fall semester, while those who took "Practice in Psychological Experimental Methods" in the fall semester take "Practice in Psychological Research Methods" in the spring semester. The contents of each class are the same between the semesters.

Also, in each semester, "Practice in Psychological Experimental Methods 1" and " Practice in Psychological Experimental Methods 2" are administered as a series of " Practice in Psychological Experimental Methods" course. Students are thus required to take both " Psychological Experimental Methods 1" and " Psychological Experimental Methods 2" in the spring or fall semester.

At the start of “Practice in Psychological Experimental Methods” course, general guidance is conducted. It is important to be present at the guidance, because it communicates all the important points in detail. Starting from week 2, students engage in experiment training with the guidance of their instructors and learn to draft plans for psychological experiments, conduct them, collect data, conduct basic statistical analysis and write reports. Specifically, after week 3 they do practical training in small groups.
The training topics are listed below. Also, students receive individual and group guidance on reports and group guidance on research.
1. Visual search. 2. Sound localization. 3. Sensory scales. 4. Short-term memory. 5. Mental rotation. 6. Brain function measurement by NIRS. 7. GSR.
