The objectives of this course are:
- To teach students the core principles of research in psychology
- To promote critical thinking about research
- To introduce students to academic and research vocabulary
- To increase students' ability and confidence to discuss psychology and academic topics
The course is designed for students at beginner to lower intermediate levels of English. Students will learn to recognise and use key terminology in psychology and academic research more broadly. The course aims to introduce students to the fundamental principles of psychology research and experimental design.
Each week a topic related to research methods will be presented, followed by class discussions and some short in-class exercises. Students will be required to submit short reaction papers on selected subjects and to deliver a final presentation lasting approximately 10-15 minutes on a research topic of their choice.
By the conclusion of this course, students will have cultivated a solid foundational understanding of psychological research and various research methodologies. They will be proficient in discussing these methodologies and evaluating their strengths and weaknesses.

この授業は、英語の初級から中級レベルの学生を対象に設計されています。学生は心理学および学術研究の幅広い文脈での重要な用語を認識し、使用するスキルを身につけます。また、この授業の目的は、学生に心理学の研究と実験設計の基本原則を紹介することです。
毎週、研究方法に関連するトピックが紹介され、クラスディスカッションと一部の短い授業内演習が行われます。学生は選定された主題に関する短い反応論文を提出し、選んだ研究トピックについて約10～15分の最終プレゼンテーションを行う必要があります。
このコースを修了することで、学生は心理学の研究および様々な研究方法に関する基本的な理解を深め、それらの方法論について議論し、その利点と課題を評価する能力を高めることが期待されています。
