Focusing on the concepts of audition and recording/playback, we consider the meaning of "watching films." The goal is to acquire the basic ability to perceive images synthetically with eyes and ears by appreciation and analysis of specific works.
Sounds tend to be considered as being part of an image. For example, if a character on screen makes a sound, it is inevitably thought very “natural” that the viewer hears the sound. In this class, students first study an overview of the basics of sound theory of films in order to consider that situation as completely "unnatural." Students deepen their understanding by watching and discussing films. In the second half of the seminar, they lead literature within the framework of the auditory aspects of images.

聴覚および録音／再生の概念を中心に、「映像を見る」という行為の意味を問う。作品鑑賞および分析をとおして、視覚と聴覚の双方から総合的に映像表現をとらえるための基礎的な批評力を身につけることを目標とする。

しばしば、音は映像の一部であると誤解される。たとえば、画面内の登場人物が音を発したら、鑑賞者の耳にその音が聞こえるのはごく「自然」だと感じられてしまう。本演習ではまず、その事態を徹頭徹尾「不自然」なものと見なすための、基本的な映画音響理論の概説を行なう。その際、具体的な映画作品を例にとり、ディスカッションも交えて理解を深める。演習後半では、映像表現の聴覚性という枠組みのなかでの文献講読を行なう。

この授業では、私たちが普段見逃したり、聞き逃したりしてしまうような映像と音の細部に注目し、その意味を学術的に読み解いていく能動的な姿勢が求められます。映画を分析的・批評的に観る／聴くということに関心のある方に向いています。
また、映画を見て思考したことを自分なりに言語化し、他者へ伝えようとする姿勢が必要不可欠です。
運営にはCanvas LMSを使用します。資料等は基本的にはLMS経由で配布するので、パソコンやタブレット、スマホなどを持参し、毎回必要な資料を確認できる状態にしておいてください。
