【Course Objectives】

There is a certain type of acting that only works in movies. It is not an aspect that comes to mind that comes from "techniques" such as freely changing the size of the characters on the screen or picking up even the smallest breaths through a microphone, but in terms of how the actors act out the text written as dialogue. It is acting that is only applicable to movies. Is this the result of how the creator considered the characteristics of the movie? As an example, I would like to explore Japanese films from the 1950s, known as the Golden Age, from the perspectives of both performers and directors, using the same text. On top of that, I would also like to think about the acting, direction, and dialogue in recent Japanese films.

【Course Contents】

・Think about the characteristics of movie acting while watching fragments of various movies. (Write a study report)
・Learn about the actual rehearsals conducted by movie directors. (Write a study report)
- Load the scenario of an existing feature film (1950s). (Write a study report)
・Hon reading of the same scenario.
・Try acting out a scene from the same scenario yourself. I'll also try directing.
- Load the scenario of an existing feature film (2000s). (Write a study report)
・Hon reading of the same scenario.
・Try acting out a scene from the same scenario yourself. I'll also try directing.
・Discuss the differences in acting between the two films above. (Write a study report)
・Everyone writes a short scenario. (1 minute conversation play)
・Divide into groups of 5 to 6 people to rehearse, film, edit, and adjust the sound of the chosen scenario.
・Screening and discussion.

Since everyone repeats ``acting as an actor'' and ``directing as a director,'' it is important to have an active attitude even if you are inexperienced.
In the first half, continuity with the previous class is important, and in the second half there will be group work, so full attendance is a prerequisite. Particularly in group work, if even one person is missing, rehearsals and filming will be disrupted, and the group members will also be inconvenienced, so please participate responsibly.
In addition to class time, you will be required to report on at least five assignments, read a full-length scenario of over 100 pages, watch a designated full-length movie, write the scenario, have group meetings, edit, and adjust the sound. It requires a certain amount of determination and a strong interest in the topic.
In addition, we may change the class schedule as appropriate while monitoring the progress of students and the extent of their interests.
