To acquire basic knowledge, theory and practical skills in video editing.
Editing is the process of creating a visual narrative. Video editing plays an extremely important part in determining what and how a videowork conveys to the audience while controlling the time and space of the story. This course will give lectures on the history of editing, editing theory, and basic editing techniques, referring to films and other media. In the latter half of the course, students will use the knowledge earned in production practice (short films) in groups set by the instructor to further develop an understanding of editing through practice.

映像編集の基礎知識と理論、実践スキルの習得。
To acquire basic knowledge, theory and practical skills in video editing.
編集とは、映像の物語を作る作業である。映像編集は、物語の時間や空間をコントロールしながら、映像作品が何をどのように観客に伝えるかを決定する極めて重要なパートを担っている。本科目では、映画などを参照しながら、編集の歴史、編集理論、編集の基礎技術などを講義する。講義後半では、それらの知識を用いて制作実習（短編映像）を行い、実践により編集の理解を深める。制作実習のグループ分けは教員が行う。

| グループによる映像制作実習を行う。撮影場所は各班で自由に決定をする。 |
授業内で制作実習を行う時間は限られている。グループの進行状況によっては、授業時間外の準備や撮影、編集などをする必要がある。
制作実習で使用する機材類は、学校が所有している機材を使用する。
制作実習で使用する編集ソフトは、Adobe Premiere Proを使用する。ソフトの使用は、各自で書籍やインターネットなどを参照して学習し、ソフトの扱いに慣れておくこと。
