Key terms will be the basis for analyzing performing arts, with particular focus on the body, corporeality, and its politics to deepen understanding. Students will learn the theories and methods of dance and performance studies.
In this class we will analyze examples of dance by applying concept ‘politics’. ‘Politics’ in Dance Studies means not only political themes represented in each performance, but also a huge range of aspects (e.g. choreography itself as choreographing movements/ bodies of others, choreography as composing relationships between someone and others, someone and the society, political power that are shown in discourses about dance).
Students will deepen their thinking about the elements that constitute the dancing body through some examples and theories about dance.
The class will primarily be in lecture format, but students will be asked to participate in discussions.

ダンスを中心とするパフォーミング・アーツを、特に身体やその政治性に注目しながら、いくつかのキータームに基づいて分析しより深く理解する。そのプロセスを通して、舞踊研究やパフォーマンス研究の理論や手法を身につける。

本講義では、政治性をキーワードとして、昨今のダンスを分析する。政治性（politics）とは、ダンス作品の政治的テーマのみならず、他者の身体、人と人・人と社会との関係性を「振り付ける」という行為そのもの、ダンスをめぐって展開されてきた過去の言説に見られるパワーバランスなど、非常に多様な領域を指す。いくつかの具体例やダンスについての理論を参照しながら、身体とダンスをめぐる政治性について考える。
基本的には講義形式で進める予定であるが、議論には積極的な参加が求められる。
