【Course Objectives】

Besides an overview of the development of the performing arts in Japan, this course focuses on Noh-Theater and offers opportunities to rethink our corporeal consciousness.
We will introduce the idea that words and body expressions are recaptured reflexively in Noh, then consider what possibilities are opened.

【Course Contents】

Noh is located at the heart of the Japanese performing arts history and cultural history. Noh is a theater composed of various performing arts of the Middle Ages. The formation of Noh comes from the meeting of words with body expressions, where incantations, stories, characters, symbols, sounds, voices, songs, narrations, and dance intersect.
